30th of June, 2009 Tuesday Morning
It's a beautiful morning but mama's urine results were absolutely the other way round, had 2+ Glucose and 1+ Albumin detected in the urine. Blood pressure was execellent (120/70mmhg), weight 64.5kg.
Mama wasn't suprise with the poor urine results, it's quite common for pregnant mother to experience both Glucosuria and Proteinuria in late pregnancy (Mama had it when mama was pregnant with Juan Juan Jie Jie during the last trimester, MGTT was negative and most probably were spilled protein and glucose due to changes of kidney filtration).
It has been 2 months plus papa and mama didn't get to see Sprout Junior, we miss you alot! During the appointment, papa had got ready with his new video camera (The Panasonic HDC-TM200 10.6 mega Pixels full HD cam) and here's the snapshot taken by papa...
(The ultrasound showing Junior's heart beating, sex organ, head, abdomen then four limbs)According to the ultrasound, Sprout Junior 's estimated weight was 1.7kg (Normal development), still a baby boy with his head down; sufficient amniotic fluids with low lining placenta but free from the cervix.
Later papa and mama were appointed to see Prof. Harlina, we had a few chats. First of all, regarding the urine results. In her opinion the present of glucose was most likely due to the sweet Cacao drink mama taken that morning, and mama might have mild urinary tract infection (Common in pregnancy due to the changes in Ph). However, urine culture and examination were sent and to trace by this week.
The other issue was about the "cord cutting ceremony", papa was keen to "snip" the cord even before Jie Jie was borned (But during the labour Prof. Hashim reacted too fast and overtake papa instead). Few years back, papa and mama found delaying cord clamping could benefit the newborn (It initiates the bonding between mama and baby), the residual oxygen in the cord can save the baby for many troubles especially anemia. This has no problem with Prof. Harlina but to other practitioners, she has no idea whether they will allow papa to take part.
Back home at Ah Po's (Grandmama)house, Juan Juan Jie Jie was waiting for us. Ah Po helped papa and mama to take care of her while we away. When papa showed Jie Jie the video of Junior's ultrasound, and asked her "Who is this?", instead of telling us " It's a baby" she told us "This is a SCAN!". Both papa and mama was suprised, we still wonder how did she know that? Anyway, nothing is impossible if that's our Little Sprout!

Last time when I was pregnant with Juan Or, my urine also went up to 2+ somewhere around 7th month, but albumin was zero. MGTT test also showed that my glucose level was still normal. Later, on the morning of the 8th month pregnancy checkup, knowing that glucose tends to spill into the urine, I merely 'ate' just enough to sustain hunger - that morning, I merely drank a cup of soya bean drink (can't remember whether I drank milk as well or not), didn't eat any carbohydrate food like those wantan mee or char kueh teow that Ma always cook for breakfast. The urine result? Haha...no glucose! I reckon that if I ate a heavy breakfast, surely the glucose will leak into the urine and therefore give a positive result. But if I ate just enough to sustain hunger and if the glucose test still shows positive, then something must be really wrong! And if the test shows negative, then there's nothing to worry about. Later on during the consultation with the doctor, I revealed to her how I 'manipulated' my glucose-urine thingy and guess what, she didn't scold me for manipulating....LOL!
I was also diagnosed with low-lying placenta at 5th month, but luckily by 7th month, the placenta was stretched upwards already. Hopefully yours will shift up sufficiently by the end of your pregnancy.
Dear Alice, thanks for your comments!
Yalor, on next visit I should bring along my "bekal"(Lunch box). After the urine test then only take breakfast, LOL!!
Regarding the low lying placenta, the ultrasound technician complaint my placenta is too large. However as long as it doesn't cover the "exit" it would be fine, thanks for the concern!
