Ipoh Makan Places!

This is a procrastinated post, a continuation of our Tambun, Ipoh trip! Special thanks to Auntie Claire, who took the troubles to highlight and emailed to mama all the Ipoh signature makan(Dining) places prior to our Ipoh trip. Auntie Claire, your kind efforts are most appreciated!

On our 1st evening at Ipoh, we took Auntie Claire's suggestion and planned our dinner at Different Taste Restaurant, Bercham(with GPS of course).

DIFFERENT TASTE RESTAURANT
No 72, Persiaran Bercham Selatan 2,
Desa Kencana, Bercham,
31400 Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia.
Telephone : 6012-502 1132/6016-558 6499 (Arun Tan), 6016-791 4711 (Elven Lok)
Business hours : 11.30am – 9.30pm daily. Closed on Fridays.

GPS Coordinates : E101 7′ 40.3″ N4 37′ 58.4″

The Longan drink...

The cook to perfection, delicious Lala dish(RM17)...

The bouncy yet meaty fish balls(RM5x5 pieces), must try!

Here's the hero, the signature Claypot Crabs' Dong Fun(grass noodles), this taste heavenly. 3 thumbs up(RM40)!

The next day, after having our hotel breakfast, we drove to Nam Heong Old Town for its authentic Ipoh Coffee and famous egg tarts.

Kedai Makanan Nam Heong
Jalan Bandar Timah
Egg tarts and Cha Siu pastry from Nam Heong Dim Sum are sold at RM1.30 each (buy 10 free 2).
Opens from 7.30am to 4pm ( sold off as early as 2 pm)

Quite packed with patrons, we stood for 10 mins before seated.

Fresh Eggie Tart, flaky crust and tasty filling.

Kopi Bing(Ice Coffee)

The hot coffee, taste good. We ordered Barley for the Sprouts, but it didn't turn up... just forget it!

We actually planned our lunch at Lou Wong for Taugeh Chicken(Bean Sprout Chicken) at Jalan Yau Tet Shin. Sadly it was fully seated, so we resorted to the Onn Kee restaurant next door.

*Don't get us wrong, this night scene pic was actually taken on the 1st night of Ipoh stay, when we brought the Little Sprouts to Ipoh Town at night.

Fish and meatball soup, taste ok.

Herbal drinks.

Scrunchy Bean sprouts, love the texture and its gravy/ sauce!YUM!

Mama prefers the chicken to be more succulent, but the sauce/ gravy really good(especially with chicken rice)!

Kuew Tiaw, nothing really special... perhaps Lou Wong's would taste different?!

We didn't forget to tapau(Take away) Ipoh's signature Salted Chicken with herbs(RM17 per spring chicken). We also bought some Heong Peah and other snacks from the souvenir shops at Jalan Yao Tet Shin.
* sorry, didn't snap any pic because distributed and sapu the snacks even before mama realize.

Last but not least, we also stopped by in front the stalls in front of Sam Poh Dong Temple to bought some Ipoh pomelo, it taste refreshing with tinge of sweetness! Slurp!

    BOYCOTT AMERICAN WOMEN
Why American men should boycott American women

    http://boycottamericanwomen.blogspot.com

I am an American man, and I have decided to boycott American women. In a nutshell, American women are the most likely to cheat on you, to divorce you, to get fat, to steal half of your money in the divorce courts, don’t know how to cook or clean, don’t want to have children, etc. Therefore, what intelligent man would want to get involved with American women?

American women are generally immature, selfish, extremely arrogant and self-centered, mentally unstable, irresponsible, and highly unchaste. The behavior of most American women is utterly disgusting, to say the least.

This blog is my attempt to explain why I feel American women are inferior to foreign women (non-American women), and why American men should boycott American women, and date/marry only foreign (non-American) women.

    BOYCOTT AMERICAN WOMEN!

BRAND NEW: Buy the Boycott American Women book. After reading this book, I promise you that you will never even think about dating an American woman ever again, or else I will give you your money back. That's right, if you are not convinced by my book, I will give you a full refund!

Wah, looks like a great makan outing! All the restaurants look unfamiliar to me except for the shop that serves the fat bean sprout dish becos I remember last time Mai Buoy invited us to join in her company's trip to Ipoh meant for her workers, but becos got extra space, she invited us. So we hopped in (only hubby, Ah Yeen and myself. FIL and MIL didn't follow).
